There's a phase that "Sweet desserts can make people feel happier",
desserts can be a relaxing snack after a heavy full meal or a refreshing
sweet before a snap during the late afternoon. Generally, desserts are
categorized into solid and liquid form, whereas Western style desserts
are mainly in solid form. Some typical examples of Western desserts are
cakes, patisseries, pancakes, chocolates etc. Some Western people would
like to serve coffee with the desserts too. In Chinese desserts as well
as Hong Kong desserts, there are several of them are served with a more
liquid form, for example a mango juicy-like mixed with coconut milk, as
they think a liquid form dessert may be more effectively to release the
fullness-feeling after a big heavy meal and this might be better for the
food digesting system.
Take a high tea desserts meal at QVB – The Tea Room as an
example of a western style experience, I felt very full and quite dry after
having the desserts. It is true that the tiny good looking cakes with different
flavours tasted yummy and alluring, but I could not really finish all of them
and felt like I just had a very heavy meal after that. My suggestion of a
successful tasty desserts meal is avoid putting in too much flour and sugar
when preparing the ingredients, otherwise people may not feel as enjoyable as
the outstanding look of the dessert. In this situation, I might prefer more of a liquid-form dessert.
